“WE NEED COUNCILLORS WITH
GUMPTION & SKILLS” SAYS
AYCLIFFE CORRESPONDENT
“We need people with passion, backbone and commitment to be an effective elected representative. We should be electing strong Councillors who have the gumption and skills to speak out on our behalf. “Also, it is worth remembering in this forthcoming election [that] many of the Labour Councillors were against a Unitary Authority several months ago. Surely leopards cannot change their spots that quickly.” [Letter to the Newton News, name & address supplied].
Yes, we do agree – and we would claim that all our Aycliffe LibDem candidates at this election have “passion, backbone and commitment” and have the “passion, backbone and commitment” – and also the relevant experience and expertise - to be effective elected representatives.
LibDem councillors “intelligent and able” – ex-Labour councillor
Former Aycliffe Labour councillor Arun Chandran has praised LibDem and Independent councillors he used to worked with. In a recent Newton News, Chandran writes: “When I last served on the Town Council, I was grateful that we had able opposition councillors. Peter and Andrea Bergg [and others] were intelligent and able people from whom I learned that in local politics you are not always right.”
VISION NEEDED
What Aycliffe needs on the new Unitary Council are councillors with the vision to see the possibilities of vastly improving the service for local residents, and with the authority, experience and determination to carry this out. The Aycliffe LibDem team for the Unitary Council elections on 1st May has people with the experience and commitment needed.
